Rather, the most valuable of the athletic trading cards on the U.S. market today features none other than noted skier and outdoorsman Karol Wojtyla, better known as the late Pope John Paul II. Becket Media, whose pricing guides set the industry standard, announced on Tuesdat that the limited edition Pope John Paul II from the 2005 World Treasures line of card maker Topps has sold for $8,100. The Topps series includes some other historical figures including Czar Paul I and King Frederick the Great. These particular cards are selling for about $3,000.
