| Cats in the news: A cat running loose on a Belgian commercial flight attacked a pilot and forced the crew to turn back to the airport. The grey cat, named "Gin", broke out of its cage about 20 minutes after take-off and scurried to the cockpit where it scratched the co-pilot. The cat managed to slip through the cockpit door as a flight attendant served lunch to the pilots.

Conditions and attitude of people towards pregnant cat are very important for the health & character of kittens. During pregnancy, the cat gets a full feed, which includes, without fail raw meat (beef, turkey, chicken). Byproducts (any) fruits, vegetables, yogurt, cottage cheese, quail eggs (with shell), fresh grass or sprouted oats. This feed is given raw. It includes full set of vitamins & microelements, required for proper intrauterine growth of kittens.
In our kennel, pregnant female is given care & attention and well in advance (around mid-pregnancy), cat is provided with comfortable couch, which is protected from drafts, light & the couch is kept at a place, where the expecting mother is not disturbed by anybody. Cat appreciates this relationship & trusts us to participate during delivery. Trust & understanding are very important during this crucial period.
Immediately after the birth of kitten, it looks around. Cat allows to take newborn kittens into arms & her mood, calmness & confidence in people is passed onto the kittens from mother right from birth. Nature of mother is absorbed by kittens, as they say, along with milk.
Lot of attention is given to psychological & physical development of kittens & the kittens get used to people & consider them to be big, caring, affectionate cats. Depending on the quantity of milk the mother can feed, the kittens begin taking solid foods as soon as the mother's milk is not sufficient for the kittens. This happens around one month's age. At this age, kittens get accustomed to trays.
As soon as the kittens begin to open eyes, catlike curiosity & desire for exploring gets into them & the kittens start coming out of couch. Kittens see big world of our apartment, with all its inhabitants, which is fully in their possession. But this does not mean, that the kittens do not know the restrictions and what all is allowed. Kittens should know what they are allowed to do & what is categorically not allowed. The kittens should be trained not to damage the furniture, carpets, wallpaper as well as destruct & spoil the plants. We have many large & beautiful plants and cats do not touch them. These skills are imparted in little kittens. We should observe them & prevent unwanted actions through loud voices, clapping & sometimes by using water pistol. Constant care for kittens is needed as in the case of young children. Couches & cat toys are put in different places in the apartment. Kittens make friends with pets: dog, guinea pig, with our friends & acquaintances, who regularly visit us. Acquaintance with people, who do not belong to their "cat" family, expand their horizons & teaches them not to be afraid of strangers. All this allows them to quickly adjust to new family.
