This contest is fueled by the following news:
The Carolina Hurricanes have taken home the Stanley Cup, for the first time in the franchise's history. Rod Brind'Amour was seen lofting the cup over his hear, tears streaming over his cheeks. The team could not have won without the inspiring efforts of goalie and team rookie Cam Ward -- who stopped nearly every puck heading his way. The Hurricanes defeated Edmonton 3 to 1 in the winner take all finale held on Monday night. Brind'Amour described winning as a surreal experience. He is the team's captain and is 35 years old. The combined total of time spent in the National Hockey League by the team's major players amounts to 78 seasons -- with no Stanley Cup ... until now. Dough Weight, who was not able to play in the tournament due to an injured right shoulder, did don his uniform in order to hoist up the trophy after the win. Glen Wesley, another team member said that he simply could not believe that the Hurricanes were taking home the Stanley Cup. He said the whole thing seemed like a dream.
In the background a Hurricanes player and an Oilers player break out in fighting and crack the glass. In front an Oilers player slips on his own oil slick.
