| Perfect care of the car body ensures its durability and saving a lot of money, after all the body is the most expensive part of the car at almost half of its cost. And not only is the control of corrosion important. Not only regular but the correct washing of the car can make a difference.
o Never remove the dirt by rubbing or scraping.
o Clear sunny weather is not the best time for washing. Drops of water, which are left on the surface of the body often take the shape of a magnifying glass, thereby causing the sun to burn the paint.
o Never use alkaline washing liquids, detergent powders or solvents for washing the car!
o While washing the car, use plenty of water, as if insufficient water is used, soling particles may be left on the surface.
o Without the usage of car accessories, the body becomes dull and gets covered with blisters in 3-4 years
And generally, do not wash the car too often.
Washing and body cleaning are simple operations, however both must be carried out consecutively, and must be accurate.
Every motorist knows how costly and fussy it is to repaint the body of car and so it is important to take care about its paint and polish. Therefore motorists are recommended to wash the body immediately after a drive without delaying this job. The particles which hit the body of the car can gradually diffuse the paint and polish and can spoil it irreversibly.
Nevertheless, if it is necessary to wash the car covered with dried dirt, first of all, it must be moistened, and then washed off with a jet of water. Never remove the dirt by rubbing or scraping.
Here it must be mentioned, that the washing of car, covered with a thick layer of dirt mechanically is not an economical procedure, as rigid brushes, though moistened regularly with water jets, are nevertheless rough for the paint and polish. Especially, this is visible on castings and dark regions are left on them.
Therefore it is to better to independently wash the car, though it is fussy, but it's reliable and will pay off in the long run. For carrying out such jobs, one must have a large sponge (or piece of foam rubber), suede, bucket or hose for water, some compound for washing, vacuum cleaner (preferably with a mains supply), a brush and a spray can of stain remover.
There are some opinions that it is better to wash the car in bright sunny weather as in the sun dries the surface faster and the paint shines better. It is absolutely incorrect: water drops often assimilate on the surface of body thereby acting as a magnifying glass and as a result the sunlight burns the paint. If there are light and dark areas on the body of the car, it is obvious that it was washed under the sun. In breezy weather too do not wash the car in the open as the washing compound can remain on the surface and destroy the paint.
Cool weather, with a cloudy sky and shade are the most suitable conditions for car washing. If there is a washing chamber, certainly, it is better to wash the car there.
Before removing the dirt from the surface, it is necessary to moisten the body with a jet of water or squeeze out a large sponge on it. Washing must be started from the roof.
There is an opinion, that the car washing chemicals accelerate the corrosion. This is a delusion. Actually special mediums, additives to the washing water not only wash the surface of the paint and polish well, but also remove the acid products that cause corrosion, thereby improving the durability of the car body.
It is better to wash the car from a hose so that water flows from it all the time. If it is not possible to connect the water pipe, make a most simple fixture: drill a hole in the bucket or a canister and insert a union into it, and fix a flexible hose on it. Some motorists attach a brush to the hose end with holes, thereby creating a manual washing brush with water. As a result the water consumption reduces, and the quality of washing improves.
Generally, do not wash the car too often. If it is just dirty, it is better to brush off the dust with a brush or rag. If there is a wax film on the surface of body, this dirt will do no harm. Some motorists always remove a little dirt with a rag and after many year usage of the same car they do not notice any negative effects. And the dirt from chromium plated parts must be removed fearlessly as chromium is very hard.
Before applying any selected cosmetics on the body, study the instructions carefully: on which surface it should be used - dry or wet.
