Industry analysts and insiders gathered in Chicago for North America's biggest candy trade show. The odd pairing of candy and fitness appears to make economic sense and to be the wave of the future. Overall, consumers are buying more than $3 billion a year in energy gels, bars and beverages. The total sales volume of the confections industry is $25 billion annually.
