The executives of both Kmart and Sears met this week with their staffs at the companies headquarters, which is located in the Midwestern United States. They met to explain the rationale and ultimate consequences behind their $11 billion merger. Sears Holdings is the name of the new company that resulted from the merger. It will be the third largest retailer in the United States, after Wal-Mart and Home Depot. The company will be headquartered in Chicago, which has been the home office for Sears for years.
