Rabbit or hare?
In the entire Bugs history, animators considered the rabbit and hare as synonyms. However, the rabbit is the general name for several sorts of mammals from the lagomorph's family. Rabbits, as a rule, are distinguished with their cubs being born blind and non-hairy and also by their longer ears. Probably, Bugs is a hare, since the word “hare” appears in the name of some cartoon films and on the other hand the word “hare” allows it to have a word-play (“hair”, “herr” and etc). The word “bunny” will not help with an answer to the given question as this word is used in reference to young lagomorphs; however, it is more often translated as “rabbit” in Russian literature.
