Thanks MacWF, Kratos. Sometimes we make chops look too easy. I rarely post source unless I'm bragging or want to show technical strategy. I posted this source mainly for the new choppers that might not realize how much we have to wrestle these things down to get from point A to point B. Secondly to show that the chop started as a water color illustration and was pushed toward airbrush illustration. A lot of new choppers might not realize that photography photos are not our only sources. The style conversion is achieved by blending the original water color with the smudge tool and then reworking the image with various brushes to deepen color and then sharpening. No fancy filters, anyone can produce this sort of chop with elemental photoshop tools. You just have to put in the extra few hours and know what tool to click That last point is the biggie

I wondered the same thing and even searched the Saturday Evening Post archives as the source I grabbed had been cropped. I am also pretty sure the source original format had been cropped to fit landscape rather than portrait. The composition just doesn't add up in landscape. I think editors back then might have kicked it back like that, maybe. But I had no luck finding out who did the illustration yet it does have one of J.C.L's styles all over it... Mainly the Sat Post period, not the Arrow advert style. Or, It could be a Rockwell I missed. Cool you are hip to JCL. The guy was a machine
