This contest is fueled by the following news: Bo, the pet of the Obama family, the six-month old Portuguese water dog has become the protagonist of a book. The children's book under the name "Bo, American commander-in-chief on lead" from the publishing house "Mascot Books" will appear for sale at the end of April informs Sky News. The road to the White House and new traditions are described in the book and the beginning of the road was laid by Barack and Michelle Obama: Bo shall play with the children of the President Sasha and Malia in their new children's playground, plant vegetables in the kitchen garden of the first lady and play basketball with the President. Apart from the members of the President's family, the senator from the State of Massachusetts, Edward Kennedy, who gifted Bo to the Obamas and Vice-President Joe Biden appear in the book. The authors of the book worked over the project for two months. Since the breed and name of the dog of Barack Obama was known only a few days ago, empty places were kept for its photographs. The puppy Portuguese water dog by the name of Bo was introduced to journalists on Tuesday by the President's family. In the history of the USA, a President without a dog is an exclusive phenomenon. Now, 38 of the 44 American Presidents have had pet dogs or other four-footed pets. Even a special museum for pets of the US presidents has been created in America and detailed information on all pets in the White House is kept in the museum. Popularity wise, the pets of American Presidents almost have as much popularity as their owners. Bill Clinton's Black and White cat Socks had its own fan-club, the black Scottish terrier by the nickname Fala of President Franklin Roosevelt became Hollywood movie star having acted in a film about the daily routine of a dog in the White house. The greatest fame and popularity was achieved by the Springer Spaniel by the nickname of Millie, which lived in White House during the era of President George Bush Sr. Millie was "co-author" of the best seller "Millie's Book As dictated to Barbara Bush" with abundant photographs. Barbara Bush became a "translator of dog language" and the book is about life in the White house through the eyes of the Spaniel. The book was first in the list of bestsellers and fetched $900,000 to its author. US President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and their daughters Malia and Sasha have solemnly introduced the new member of the White House -the Portuguese water dog by the name of "Bo". The dog, which was called "Star" by the President, has received its nickname from journalists. Now, the Obamas dog is called "Bo" in the mass media. The "Garden of Michelle is under threat" - joked Obama, reminding of the recent initiative of his wife to divide the kitchen garden into the garden of the presidential residence and also that Portuguese water dogs have soft spot for tomatoes. Obama, obviously is favorable to the new member of the family but at the same time, he does not intend to pamper Bo. On the journalist's query as to where the "Obama dog" would sleep, the president laughingly, replied: "Not in my bed". For the sake of photographers, Obama took a walk in the White house garden along with his daughters and Bo. At some point during the walk the young puppy pulled the leash so tightly that the US President had to run. Journalists described this walk as "probably, the most photographed walk with dog in the history"." At last, I have a friend" said Obama recollecting the well-known statement of President Harry Truman that a unique way to have friends in the White house is to get a dog. Obama has promised his daughters a present of a puppy during the election campaign. Bo was a present to Obama's family from Edward Kennedy, senator from the State of Massachusetts. For the first time, Obama's daughters Malia and Sasha met Bo in the White House where the puppy was brought in strict confidence. The dog has fascinated the girls. Bo sat down when they sat down and jumped when they stood up, said a witness who was present but the newspaper kept the name of the witness secret. Earlier, in one of the interviews Michelle Obama said that the Portuguese water dogs have a good temperament and a small size. Also, Mrs. Obama noted that they are hypoallergenic and it was a prerequisite since the elder daughter of the president - ten year old Malia has an allergy to dogs. Bill Clinton was photographed time and again with his favorite black and white cat Socks, which even had an own fan-club and George Bush Jr. willingly appeared before television cameras in the company of his Scottish-terrier Barney.
