| | African Americans are inhabitants of USA,
belonging to black race groups. The word has come into existence in English
language circulation in official circles of the USA. In a broad
sense, "African Americans" are all black citizens of USA, aptly
determining ethnicity. But, as a rule, natives of Africa (descendants
of old migrants), living in America for generations and
medium of special subcultures are understood under "African Americans".
In other words, recent African immigrants, such as more white natives
of North Africa (for example, from Egypt and Maghreb and also whites
from Republic of South Africa) are not considered as “African Americans”
in ethnic - social context.
Demographics:
Today, more than 42 million African Americans live in USA, majority of
whom are with certain tinge of whiteness (about 17-18 %) and
American Indians (about 3-5 %) and also the Asian and Latin American
blood (about 1-2 %). Owing to rather significant growth, their
percentage in overall population of the country is gradually
increasing and at present, constitutes about 13% of overall
population. During the Independence war , every 5th citizen of USA was a
black (19 % of the population) and then, this value was reduced to 9 percent in 1950s
because of mass inflow of white immigrants from Europe and
genocide, racism and discrimination in regard to African Americans. |

While Hillary is leading the polls thanks to women voters, Barack Obama is gaining strength from black voters. Their support is so big that in these elections America may finally have its first black president. Would Hillary draw such support if she were black?
