Information regarding Osama bin Laden's date of birth is contradictory – in some sources, it is mentioned as June 28, March10 or on July 30, 1957 and also 1955 and 1956; birthplace - Saudi Arabia, city Jeddah or Riyadh. Osama’s father - Mohammed bin Laden (1908 -1967) - a Saudi businessman of Yemen origin, who had made a fortune in the construction business and founder of the “Saudi Binladin Group”, he had close connections with the Saudi royal family. The family of bin laden started prospering under the guidance of Osama's father and is now one of the richest and most influential families in Saudi Arabia; the “Saudi Binladin Group” controls a considerable part of the Saudi economy in areas such as construction, oil production, shipbuilding, mass-media and telecommunications. Osama bin Laden's mother is called Alia Ghanem, according to other information “Hamida”. According to various sources, she was the 4th, 10th or 11th wife of Mohammed bin Laden. In total, Mohammed bin Laden had 52 or 57 children. Osama bin Laden’s parents divorced soon after his birth and he grew in his mother's family and with new husband Mohammad al-Attas. Osama's biological father died in an air crash in 1967 (according to other reports, in 1968 or 1970). Osama grew up in Hijaz. He studied in the "Al-Thager Model School”, then in the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah (contradicting information is available regarding his specialty in university , some reports say that Osama is a civil engineer or studied economy and management or public administration). With the help of American experts, according to unconfirmed reports, Osama founded the underground organization "Al-Qaeda" (the organization whose predecessor was “Maktab al-Khidamat” – which was founded by them jointly with Abdullah Azzam in 1984 to support the subversive actions against Soviet forces).
