| THE DARK KNIGHT is another screen version from the Batman comics. The film was released in the USA on the 18th of July 2008.
Plot
Batman starts the war on criminals. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and the district attorney Harvey Dent he is determined to cleanse the streets from crime that is poisoning the city. The cooperation seems to be effective, but soon they find themselves in the middle of chaos created by a rising criminal genius known by the scared citizens of the town by the name of the Joker.

* Maggie Gyllenhaal plays the role of Rachel Dawes, the daughter of the family Wayne's housekeeper and childhood girlfriend of Bruce Wayne. After the tragic death of the parents of Bruce, the friends lose contact with one another; however Rachel continues to worry about her friend.

Batman initially Bat-man is a fictional character by DC Comics (English), a superhero, who for the first time appeared in the 27th edition of the Detective Comics in May, 1939. Since then, along with Superman and Spiderman, he is one of the most popular and famous heroes. Batman was created by the artist Bob Caine together with the writer Bill Finger, though only Caine speaks officially as the author of the character. Bruce Wayne, the millionaire-industrialist, the playboy and the philanthropist hides behind the mask of the black avenger. After that, when his parents were killed in front of his eyes, he starts training his body and spirit towards full perfection. He invents a dress and starts to fight against the criminals. Unlike many superheroes, he does not possess any superhuman power or abilities; he counts on his mind, sharpness, technology and physical strength. Also Batman joins the “Justice League”.

The universe of Batman comics is divided into three parts: the first is the most classical Golden Age, then comes the silver age, and it is anybody’s guess then follows the Bronze Age. In each of these, Batman changed his forms, there was something new, or someone new in the lives of the Dark Knight and the level of seriousness and complexity of the masterpiece detectives rose from comedy action into a bloody detective. There are many comic-lines about Batman; you can not list them all. As it is necessary not to forget about other versions - other worlds in which it is believed what would happen if the destiny of the hero was different.

One of the biggest movies of the year is opening this Friday - "The Dark Knight" is the latest installment of the Batman saga. The movie will be made famous for the Joker's role in which movie critics say it may be the best Joker out of all previous episodes. The dark irony is that the Joker is played by the brilliant Australian actor Heath Ledger, who tragically died earlier this year. The critics and media are already talking about Ledger's Oscar nomination, and he'll be sure to get the last laugh from the big screen.
