This contest is fueled by the following news:
The seven astronauts that will be taking off in the space shuttle and braving the unknown, as NASA returns to space, have take the time to explain in detail the shuttle safety measures and features to their families. Included amongst the crew's relatives are four wives, one husband, and 13 children. The shuttel mission will last for an expected 12 days. The planned flight of the Discovery shuttel is the first shuttle flight since the catastrophic flight of the Columbia in 2003. Discovery's pilot, James Kelly, remarked that it will be much harder on the family this time around. The conventional wisdom prior to the Columbia accident was that the greatest risk occurred during launch rather than on the return.
