A pair of astronauts from the space Shuttle Discovery has performed what some are calling a spacewalk ballet. The spacewalk was necessary to repair some of the hardward that was critical to the completion of the construction of the International Space Station. Astronauts Mike Fossum and Piers Sellers floated upwared to the International Space Station to install a spare pump and also to replace a broken cable reel. Fossum indicated that he was working up a sweat during the process. In the end, the pair of astronauts completed the necessary work on the International Space Station faster than had been expected and ahead of schedule. Misson Control capsule commentator, Julie Payette, indicated that the work of the astronauts in space was a pleasure to witness and to watch. Before going to work, the pair of astronauts took the time to admire the view of Earth, which was 200 miles below them. Sellers said it was like standing in an all around IMAX movie. He said it was all very beautiful. |
