Artist's Statement: This challenging installation reflects the futility felt when the real, external world is internalized. The dramatically-posed un-opend beverage container invokes a feeling that satisfaction is still a full step away, though still offers hope for the future, while the frosted, unlit bulb presents the darkness that permeates the brooding mind. Inspired by a found object this piece demonstrates the destructiveness of jealousy in a marriage. The violent separation of a comfortable household item reflects the resulting relationship, still a working whole, but supported by the dependency of the female, represented by the flimsy and gaudily-colored milk crate.
