but this time the price is not an issue for real antique collectors and those
who want to own a piece of the legendary Titanic vessel. The company
called Romain Jerome SA came up with a unique idea of making modern
luxury watches with parts made from the steel of the sank Titanic.
The steel was melted from the slab from Titanic ship and was used for
creating an alloy suitable for making watch parts.
Such piece of history does not come cheap - each wristwatch is priced
from ten to two hundred thousand dollars. The first watches were shown
last week on the stands of Baselworld - the largest and most famous
annual trade fair of jewelry producers.
The company chief said the watches are unique not only in antique
sense, - they also give a message of hope over death, and rebirth over
despair. The legend that sank almost a century ago is now an antique
that shows you the time of today, instead of collecting dust at
shelves of collectors. Titanic has a new life through its tiny pieces
living together with the happy watch owners, beating the time itself.
