| | A letter purported to be by a top leader of Al Qaeda in Irag has been rejected by that group as fake. According to the letter that we released by U.S. Intelligence officials last week, al Qaeda's second in command urged the groups leader in Irag to prepare for an Islamic government to assume power when the U.S. forces leave that country. The letter warns that the killing of Shiite civilians and hostages is risking alienating Sunnis at a time when al Qaeda within Iraq should be working hard for a religious state. Al Qaeda in Iraq said the letter's release by the U.S. demonstrated a bankruptcy plagueing the U.S. or infidel camp. Al Qaeda claimed there was no truth to the contents of the letter. They contend the letter was a product of the imagination of the White House, which they referred to as the Black House. |
