The flatness of the 'red dots' gives the appearance that they have been applied to a sheet of glass and the viewer is looking through the glass towards the aircraft. If you want the dots to appear as though they are on the actual aircraft, then you will have create the illusion of curvature for each dot by varying the shape, colour, gradient and lighting/opacity. Another way to achieve this is to use the marquee tool and select eliptical segments of the fuselage and copy them to new layers. Then adjust the colour curves and/or hue/saturation of the objects so that they stand out from the rest of the aircraft but still retain some of the colour and lighting effects of the original image as some areas of the aircraft are much lighter than other areas. It is a simple concept but it takes a bit of time to pull it off successfully.

I heartfully agree with c00per's suggestions. I might consider adding some big size pills next to the plane, or put a cold compress on it, or plaster - anything medical should be good.
