Airbus A380
Contest Directions: Today will go into history as the date of the first commercial air flight of Airbus A380. The flight was done from Singapore to Sydney with Singapore Airlines and was fully booked in advance. The tickets for this flight were sold in advance at an auction - ranging from thousands of dollars for economy class seat to dozens of thousands of dollars for business class seat. Even though you can not really call it a "seat" in upper business class (there are three classes) - it is a separate room with a bed. Airbus A380 is the biggest passenger aircraft in the world, and is nicknamed "Superjumbo" for its size and seating capacity of up to 853 people. This Airbus model took years and billions of dollars to design; each unit costs about $320 million to manufacture. There are currently only 10 units of Airbus A380, with Singapore Airlines being the primary user.
Photoshop Airbus A380 any way you wish. Some examples are - redesigning it one way or another (giving the aircraft more round shape, or more square shape, etc.), merging Airbus A380 with some other objects, giving is some paint jobs, or even including it into old paintings. You may also consider photoshopping magazine covers showing the first Airbus A380 flight on the Moon, Mars, etc. There are just some ideas.

This contest is fueled by the following news: Airbus А380 — Largest passenger airliner in the world, manufactured by concern "Airbus S.A.S." (earlier Airbus Industrie). Airbus 380 is double-deck with height of 24m and length 73m and wingspan of 79.4 m. The design range of Airbus A380 is 15,200 kms (nonstop). Airbus A380 provides seating for 555 passengers in standard three-class configuration (upto 853 passengers in full economy class configuration). Amongst the largest airliners, Airbus A380 is the most economical airliner— 3 ltrs of fuel on a single passenger per 100 km distance. Airbus A380 is equipped with four engines. Freighter version of Airbus A380F with payload capacity of upto 150 tonnes and design range of upto 10 400 km is also planned. Maximum take-off mass is 560 tonnes (mass of the aircraft itself is 280 tonnes). Price of a single liner is 280 million USD. The price of Airbus A380 is 15% less than the price of "Boeing-747" which can seat only 400 passengers ("Boeing-747" was considered as the largest airliner for the last 35 yrs but commercial use record still belongs to Soviet airliner Antonov Аn-225 Mriya). "Airbus" is planning to manufacture 35 aircrafts per year. By the beginning of 2007, company got orders for the production of 166 aircrafts altogether. Future plans – delivery of not less than 700 units to the customers. Approximately 10 years were spend on the development of Airbus A380 and cost of the entire program stood at approximately 11 billion euros. According to designers, the most difficult task in the design of aircraft was reduction of aircraft's weight. The designers could succeed by addresing the issue with the usage of new and revolutionary variant of composite material. Fuselage and wings are made of composite material. As a result, A380 consists of 40% graphite. - Airbus A380 was unveiled on January 18, 2005 in Toulouse; - Maiden test flight of Airbus А380 took place on April 27, 2005 in Toulouse.
