|  In its most recent "Got Milk?" campaign, the California Milk Processor Board may have come a little to close to home for comfort as far as Major League Baseball is concerned. Actually poking fun at the League's ongoing scandal involving seroid use, a television ad talks about a player being pulled from a game after testing positive for what is described as a performance enhancing substance. In the subsequent scene, a coach is seen pulling a carton of milk from a player's locker. The Exevutive Vice President for Business for Major League Baseball responded by stating that there is nothing funny about steroid abuse. He chides the California Milk Processor Board and their advertising agency for the television commercial, remarking that steroid abuse is an issue that threatens America's youth. The thirty second commercial is part of a whole new series of "Got Milk?" commercials that commenced airing during the baseball playoffs. Jeff Goodby, of the San Francisco ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, which created and produced the campaign since 1993, stated that the ad in question was never meant to be taken seriously. He remarked that they were merely selling milk. He described the ad in question as being a goofy takeoff. |
