a nice way to do shadows is to make a new layer, use a black airbrush to paint the shadows...then change the layer mode to "overlay" then just mess about with opacities of the layer and airbrush...hope that helps.

The shadows casted on the show are quite natural. What yo uneed now is shadows on the right side of the lego toys, similar to those on the rescue workers.
